Royal Museums Greenwich Transfer Three Boats to The Classic Boat Museum Cowes

On the morning of Wednesday 11th September 2019, two of our volunteers headed down to Falmouth to the National Maritime Museum Cornwall to collect three boats belonging to the Royal Museums Greenwich collection that they no longer required. They have been very kindly transferred at no cost to the Classic Boat Museums collection in Cowes.

Two of the boats were designed by Uffa Fox, Gyrinus an international 14 which raced from the Island Sailing Club, and Flying Cloud an early Flying 15. The third boat is a Morgan Giles Pram Dinghy number 659. The Classic boat museum is pleased to give these boats with a strong local connection a new home where they will be put on display soon.

Mark McNeill commented

We would like to thank the Royal Museums Greenwich for giving us these three boats and thank you to our volunteers who spent two days collecting them.

Finally, a big thank you to Red Funnel for providing free ferry crossings that has enabled the museum to collect the boats at minimal cost.
