Showcasing Frank Beken's Motor Launch Rosabelle
“Beken led the world” — It was a young Frank Beken who had the idea of photographing the great racing yachts of the 1920s and 1930s close to the action in the Solent from a launch. It was this innovative idea which started the passion of generations of yacht enthusiasts to have his impressive photographs gracing the walls of their houses and buildings. The launch which allowed Frank and his son Keith to do this was called Rosabelle and she can still be seen, fully restored, and newly interpreted, at the Classic Boat Museum in Cowes. The Beken family lived in Cowes for several generations and the name Beken of Cowes is known throughout the world.
